About
Quincy Valley Allied Arts
OUR STORY
The Quincy Valley Allied Arts (QVAA) is a local nonprofit organization providing access to the arts with emphasis on theatrical & musical experience for the greater Quincy Valley.
Founded in 1999, QVAA relies entirely on volunteered resources and grant funding. To conduct its activities, QVAA must coordinate and integrate the efforts of the many people, volunteers, and material resources available from throughout the community. Though the process may be tough, we take pride and have fun in the entertainment of Quincy!
The organization had its first regular meeting in October of 1999, quickly followed by its first actual production, “Oklahoma!” in the spring of 2000. We have since produced an all community musical each spring, a Christmas Community Concert, a children’s theater each fall, and a comedy or melodrama each summer with a few miscellaneous performances from neighboring communities thrown in. In addition to our productions, we award scholarships to area High School Seniors who are continuing their education in the Arts. As you can see, we are committed to providing the Quincy Valley with varied opportunities to enjoy the Arts.
In order to do this, we need and value the input of the Quincy Community. Obviously we cannot do the things we do without a budget. We therefore need monetary input. The money raised from memberships is used to cover overhead costs such as insurance, sound and lighting equipment, and general expenses. In addition to monetary support, we need physical support. By this we mean your attendance of our shows, as well as your reactions to them. We really appreciate your feedback! We also covet your help with set building, acquiring props, backstage help, and of course it just wouldn’t be a show without people who are willing to actually be on the stage!
Once again, thank you for your support!
